Almost everyone who has ever watched a Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal or Jean-Claude Van Damme flick has tried, usually without much success, to replicate the flashy martial arts moves of the stars.

Now, it turns out that with a simple 90 degree rotation of the action — and the magic of stop-motion animation — it’s possible for anyone to look like a sixth-degree black belt. Proof of concept comes via a video from the creative minds at Corridor Digital.

Now, the next time you see a cameraman filming a prone martial artist striking strange poses in the local park, you’ll know what’s up.

Corridor Digital’s YouTube channel has collected one third of a billion views since its inception in 2010. To capture the individual frames for their stop-motion karate video, a Go Pro camera was mounted on rigging made of PVC pipe and positioned above the actors.
