Lightning strikes twice for weatherman Joe Moravsky on American Ninja Warrior

Turning in consistent performances in obstacle course running is even harder than predicting the weather, but Connecticut’s Joe Moravsky manages to do both. The mild-mannered weatherman, who completed Stage 2 of the American Ninja Warrior National Finals last year as a rookie, managed the rarefied feat again this season.

To put Moravsky’s accomplishment in perspective, consider this; ANW legends Brent Steffensen and David Rodriguez didn’t even advance to their respective City Finals courses this year. Moravsky has now twice successfully navigated the gauntlet of the City Qualifiers, City Finals, and National Finals Stage 1 and 2.

Moravsky’s performance in this year’s St. Louis Finals demonstrated how mercurial the ANW course obstacles can be. The ‘rumbling dice’ apparatus came off its track seemingly dooming his run, but Moravsky kept his wits about him and swung to safety.

The impressive bit of improvisation predictably inspired a slew of weather-themed superlatives from the show’s co-anchors. First Matt Iseman gave it a go…

… then his co-host one upped him.

After succumbing to the climbing portion on Stage 3 at the National Finals, Moravsky vowed to hone his rock climbing skills in the off season.
