Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz is entering his farewell season, which inspired Kenan Thompson to dust off his impersonation of the Dominican slugger on Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update segment.

Apparently, the big pregame lunches alluded to in the SNL sketch are working out for Big Papi. He crushed a two-run homer in the ninth inning versus the Cleveland Indians to help the Red Sox to a 6-2 Opening Day victory.

Ortiz surpassed 500 home runs on September 12th of last year, and now sits on 504 round trippers for his career. If over the course of his last season Ortiz can match his home run total of 37 from 2015, he will jump from 27th place on the all-time HR leaders list to 17th position, sandwiched between Mickey Mantle (536) and Mike Schmidt (548).
